The Force Unleashed - Greatest game ever?

The game’s premise is a simple one. The gamer is Darth Vader’s secret apprentice and after much training, the Force has unleashed incredible powers in this padawan learner. Designed around three major simulation technologies, TFU is more than a game, it may actually be a Force simulation. Utilizing the Havok physics engine, designers are able to move an amazing amount of detail within the scenario. The result is the ability to move a great number of objects on screen at once. Great if you’re using the force to push back a hoard of destroyer droids. Euphoria, is the technology that gives animated characters their individuality. They reaction to what’s happening around them and insures that no two reactions are the same. Finally, Digital Molecular Matter (DMM) simulates the substance of an object in the scene and make it behave like it would in the real world. Glass shatters like glass, metal bends like metal, wood splinters as it should. Coupling this with Euphoria and the game environment reacts as it would if it were real life.
Add to this the hopeful promise of a Lightsaber Wii controller, and the result is that the Force Unleashed could be more simulation than game. And that begs the question … will The Force Unleashed be the greatest game ever? Well, at least until they make a better one.

Download speeds upto 1.2Gb/sec

The experimental satellite is not yet intended for commercial use, but if all goes well, it will enable super high-speed data transmissions "of up to 1.2 gigabytes per second" at a low cost across Japan and 19 other locales in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, we've no idea when it will escape the bondage of testing and actually be put to good use, but at least Japan's well on its way to actually establishing that wireless island, eh?

Big in 2008 - Sony PSP Phone

Now that mobile phone gaming is a serious possibility, it’s time Sony licensed its last mega-brand to Sony Ericsson: enter the PlayStation Phone.
The PSP Phone wouldn’t fall into the same form-factor trap as other gaming mobile phones. It would have a cool dual-slider opening mechanism. Slide the screen to the right and an analogue joystick is revealed, similar to the PSP's.
Slide it left and you have a full mobile phone keypad. It’d also have a pair of shoulder buttons and the iconic PlayStation four-button layout.
A 3in screen would make a nice display with the same 480x272 resolution as the PSP and all storage will be on M2 memory cards, not UMD. No word on pricing and availaiblity yet.

500xl Speakers are giant iPod earbuds

Yes, these are extremely cheesy, but I suppose if you’re a huge Apple fanatic you might be proud to have them sitting on your desk. If you’re wondering, these are actually 500 times the size of your regular iPod earbuds. They draw their power from either your computer’s USB port or from a standard wall outlet. No word on pricing or availability.

Forget iPhone, think GPhone now

The collaboration between two of the most powerful brands in technology is seen as a potential catalyst for making internet use of mobile phones as natural as on desktop computers and laptops.
Executives from Orange flew to Silicon Valley in California for a meeting at Google’s headquarters, or ‘Googleplex’, to hold preliminary discussions about a joint deal. The companies believe that they have an affinity as brands that are perceived as both ‘positive’ and ‘innovative’.
Their plans centre on a branded Google phone, which would probably also carry Orange’s logo. The device would not be revolutionary: manufactured by HTC, a Taiwanese firm specialising in smart phones and Personal Data Assistants (PDAs), it might have a screen similar to a video iPod. But it would have built-in Google software which would dramatically improve on the slow and cumbersome experience of surfing the web from a mobile handset. The Google phone is expected to go on sale in 2008.
